A live role

Staff Backend Engineer (Go), Events Platform

from GitLab · read the original and apply on their site

Bangalore, India

Our take: The real work here is designing and building a durable multi-tenant messaging platform underneath nearly everything GitLab ships, then leading a team to deliver it and migrating live production off the legacy systems without disruption.

This is a chance to design the durable messaging platform that nearly everything GitLab ships sits on top of, then break it into work a team can actually deliver. You will own reliability end to end, know the difference between a design that is truly durable and one that only looks durable under light load, and migrate live production traffic off legacy systems without dropping a beat. If you love distributed systems in Go, mentoring engineers, and writing the thinking down so a remote async team can move without you in the room, this foundational role will feel like home.
