Our take: The real work here is designing and optimising the PostgreSQL-backed data layer for GitLab's vulnerability management, while leading long backend deliverables and helping the team move toward modular services.
If you love designing the data layer that makes security features work, and turning a security report firehose into fast, well-indexed PostgreSQL, this role gives you real ownership from first idea to shipped code. You will lead multi-quarter backend work, help move a big Rails monolith toward modular services, and stay genuinely hands-on across Rails, Go and Rust. It is fully remote with clear goals and the space to own how you deliver.
